Both countries have been on great streaks of their own. For Brazil, they are winners of four straight matches after dropping a game (yes, they lose, but not often) against Switzerland in August of this year. The score read 1-0 and Brazil was not on top.
Maybe that forced the team to play harder? In their next four matches, they have only allowed a goal and that was to the tough Portuguese team in another International Friendly back in September. Brazil has gone on to win four straight matches, defeating Australia, Portugal, South Korea and Zambia.
These friendlies are serious for Brazil because as everybody else is battling in true competition, getting past the World Cup Qualifiers stage, they need a way to have organized games against the possible future competition.
Honduras will be in the World Cup as they went 4-3-3, good enough for a third spot in the North Central American and Caribbean division of the qualifiers. They racked up 15 points, sitting three behind Costa Rica and four above a Mexican team now battling to gain entrance into Brazil 2014. They are 2-2-1 in their last four games, similar to Brazil, suffering their last loss in Summer of 2013. Honduras lost the Gold Cup to the U.S., 3-1. Since then, they have not lost a game, drawing against Panama and Jamaica, while gaining victories over Mexico and Costa Rica.
