The New York Knicks have had a slow start this season and that is why trade rumors involving Iman Shumpert have been coming up and after reports came out that the Denver Nuggets were looking at a deal for Kenneth Faried, that trade is now basically dead, although reports have other teams interested and the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers could be possible options.

The Knicks are 3-4 on the year after beating the Atlanta Hawks on the road and that is one reason for the trade talk and another is for the Tyson Chandler injury, as the big man will be out for at least a month or longer and by then the Knicks could be in a deep hole in the eastern conference. The team has been up and down all season, especially on offense and while the deal with the Nuggets is dead, there is a chance that something could happen down the line. The Knicks have thought about trading Shumpert for a while and that thought likely comes from James Dolan, who wanted to reportedly deal him last summer and now the team is in an interesting situation as they head through the November schedule.

According to ESPN.com and Pro Basketball Talk, the deal talks between the Nuggets and Knicks are dead for now and this comes after the Knicks had spoken with the Suns last season for a deal that involved Jared Dudley, who now is on the Los Angeles Clippers after a trade. The team has thought about trading Shumpert despite the fact that he is a solid defender and one of the best young players on the team, but with a number of players at shooting guard with JR Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. as well as Pablo Prigioni and Beno Udrih on the roster, the team feels that there are too many players at the position.

Shumpert is clearly talented, but the Knicks have seemed to be leading towards trading him and reports from ESPN wrote that one reason the summer option came up was due to summer league play, as Dolan wanted him to play there over the offseason but he did not end up playing much and appeared in one game. Either way, the Knicks have a big decision to make and while they pulled off a win against the Hawks, they have a tough schedule coming up and that could mean a deal goes down with a different team.

Faried has turned into one of the best young rebounders in the game and the deal talks have come after the team reportedly shopped around Faried last season and over the summer. Reports came out on Wednesday that talks between the two teams were intensifying and then they ended up going nowhere by the end of the way. Shumpert is now in the middle of trade talks again and while the Nuggets deal fell through, that doesn't mean another deal won't go down. Shumpert showed his versatility with five points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals against the Hawks and now more news should come out involving a possible deal.
