Colin Kaepernick Fantasy Trade: Buy Low On San Francisco 49ers QB As Case Keenum and Ryan Fitzpatrick Solid Bench Options

The fantasy football season is getting into the late stages of the schedule and that means the playoffs are right around the corner and for owners that are concerned, it could be time to pull off a trade and one player that should be targeted is San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, as his value is low right now and could be had for a price.

Kaepernick did not have a great game against a tough Carolina Panthers defense on Sunday in the loss for the Niners and it has now been quite a while since Kaep has had himself a big game. For owners that have Kaepernick and want to possibly trade him, there are some free agent bench QB options that could help make up for the lost production, as Case Keenum and Ryan Fitzpatrick could be solid pickups going forward the rest of the season. Against the Panthers Kaepernick did not have a touchdown pass and finished with one interception and now in the past three weeks he has just one touchdown and one pick in that span and this could be the perfect time to pick him up as an opposing team, as he could get better down the stretch if and when Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis return.

Kaepernick came into the year as one of the top options as a fantasy football quarterback due to his ability to run with the ball and while he has 310 yards on the ground this season, he has not been as productive as he was last season and that could be an issue for the Niners. Kaepernick now has just three touchdowns in his past four games and four in the past five and he has not been over the 300 yards mark passing in his last five games of the season. The schedule will continue to be tough for the 49ers and that could be a reason to try and sell Kaepernick, just don't give him away for nothing. This season he has not been over 300 passing yards apart from the opening game against the Packers with 412 and he has not tossed more than three touchdowns in any game either.

The Niners have a tough schedule coming up and while it may be hard to part with such a talented quarterback, with the team facing the Redskins and the Saints over the next two weeks, it could be the perfect time. The team plays on the road against New Orleans next Sunday before playing Monday night football against the Redskins in Washington and after that the team plays against the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons in another MNF matchup.

Case Keenum could be a solid alternative going the rest of the way, as he has six touchdowns and no picks in his past two games and seven since taking over the starting job and after passing for 350 yards two weeks ago, he had a solid game on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals with 201 yards passing and three scores. Keenum was very productive in college and now he has the starting job all sewn up. Fitzpatrick is in for Jake Locker and he is out for the season and he had a solid game on Sunday, passing for over 260 yards and adding two touchdowns and he could be a solid option to finish up the season.
