The NBA season is starting to wear on and that means injuries and depth issues coming up already for teams around the league and that is one reason why the New Orleans Pelicans have signed back Lou Amundson after he had interest from the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Marc Stein is reporting that Amundson is planning to re-sign with the Pelicans as they are dealing with a foot injury to Ryan Anderson, adding more depth to the front court. The news was confirmed by his agent and now adds back a player that previously was with the team and played in just under 40 games last season with three different teams. The deal, according to Stein is for the veteran's minimum and now they should be able to get by for a bit without Anderson.

The team will need to make room for him and last season he played for the Pelicans/Hornets for 18 games as well as appearances for the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves. Amundson previously was with the Clippers in training camp and he had interest from the Lakers and the Knicks as a possible depth option moving forward, as NY is dealing with an injury to Tyson Chandler.

Last season Amundson played in one game for the Bulls and 20 for the Wolves and he is the definition of a journeyman player, playing for five teams since 2010 and now he has the chance to bring some depth to the Pelicans with his career averages of 3.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 327 career games. The Pelicans are 3-4 this season and next are playing the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday at the Staples Center at 10:30 pm and the team is playing well on defense, averaging 95 points allowed per game to rank fourth in the league.
