The Golden State Warriors have been off to a great start this NBA season with a 4-1 record, but they could hit their first bump in the road on Friday, as star Stephen Curry could miss the game against the San Antonio Spurs with a bone bruise in his ankle.
Curry has had ankle injuries in the past, making the team likely handling this one with caution, but the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Curry missed the shoot around for the game on Friday. Curry is looking to play in the game despite dealing with the bone bruise and if the Warriors decide to sit him, he will likely be replaced in the starting lineup with Toney Douglas. Andre Iguodala can help make up for Curry if he has to sit out and he originally was injured after landing on the foot of Kevin Love when the team played against the Timberwolves.
The injury appears to be nothing serious for Curry and the Warriors hope so, as they are looking like one of the top teams in the NBA in the early goings and they have been scoring in bunches so far this season. The team has plenty of offensive weapons with Curry, Iguodala as well as Klay Thompson, David Lee and others and they have been off to a fast start with a 4-1 record and they will face the Spurs with the same record on Friday night.
Curry did not do much against the Wolves in 24 minutes, putting up five points and seven assists while playing less than 30 minutes and while he "probably" will play in the game on Friday, chances are he will not be at full strength. The game is a playoff rematch from last season of the second round when the Warriors took the Spurs to six games and now the team is hoping the injury doesn't hamper Curry.
The team is ranked first in the league in scoring with over 110 points per game and they are in the top five in both assists and rebounds per game. The team has been off to a better start defensively as well, as they are ranked 14th through five games after being ranked near the bottom of the league last season.
