Roger Federer hits the courts at the O2 Arena in London where he faces elimination from the round robin stage at the 2013 ATP World Tour Finals. Watch the live stream online, for free, as Federer faces another veteran, Richard Gasquet at 9 a.m. ET/2 p.m. GMT.
Both players are looking to capture at least one victory in the tournament or else they face elimination. Federer dropped his first match of the tournament against Novak Djokovic, losing in three sets, though he battled in the second set just to avoid losing the match early. Djokovic defeated Federer 6-4, 7(6)-6 (2), 2-6. Gasquet faced a determined Juan Martin Del Potro, who rallied back after losing the first set and the Argentine ultimately won the match 6 (4)-7 (6), 6-3, 7-5..
If both Federer and Gasquet were a part of memorable matches in the first round, one could only expect that both guys will provide a memorable performance this afternoon.
However, that might not be the case. If there is any game where the mind can play tricks on an athlete, tennis is it. Gasquet has a poor record against Federer and Federer knows this. Entering this match, the Swiss owns the French, winning 10 of their 12 meetings. The only think Gasquet can pray for is that Federer's game truly diminishes as they get ready to meet for the 13th time in their careers.
The two last played against each other in the 2012 Tour Masters in Spain where Federer defeated Gasquet in straight sets. Previously, they had hooked up in Paris, France back in 2011 and Federer once again won in straight sets. It was Gasquet who ended Federer's nine-game winning straight, from 2005 all the way to 2011, as he defeated the Swiss at the World Tour Masters in Rome, Italy.
