Northwestern has one of the most recognizable jerseys in college sports with their purple colors, but heading into their game against Michigan later in November, the team will be wearing special red, white and blue jerseys to honor the troops.

According to ESPN.com, the team is going to ward new jerseys designed by Under Armour and the move is to "raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to empower service members wounded in battle" and coach Pat Fitzgerald said the team is excited to wear it. The Wildcats are having an up and down season and they will play against Michigan for that game and it's great for college football that the team will be honoring the military.

Northwestern will not be wearing purple and the jerseys will have a number of different words rather than the player names, with duty, honor, courage, commitment, integrity, country or service taking its place. This season the team is 0-5 in the conference and has lost five in a row since starting 4-0 and now they have a huge game after losing in heartbreaking fashion on a hail Mary against the Cornhuskers.

The move is great one for college football, as the team is bringing attention to a good cause.

"After Under Armour presented us with the different ideas they had, we had strong thoughts on making sure the red, white and blue matched throughout, that it looked like a complete uniform head to toe," Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald said.
