The NFL season has reached about the halfway point with Week 9 on the schedule going down and that of course means predictions for the end and the top players so far from the season and for MVP the choice is clear with Peyton Manning, while players like Eddie Lacy, Calvin Johnson, Drew Brees and Robert Mathis have all established themselves this season.

Peyton Manning is the clear choice for MVP so far just based on stats, but on top of that he also is the QB for the favorite in the AFC in the Denver Broncos. This season Manning has nearly 3,000 yards and that is only through eight games and he has 29 touchdowns and again, that IS ONLY THROUGH eight games. His numbers are video game numbers and he has passed for 2,919 yards and 29 touchdowns and he has just six interceptions, the best ratio of anyone in the league.

Manning tossed half of those last week against the Redskins, meaning he had three the rest of that time and after opening the season with seven touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens, he had the fast track to the MLP award. Manning has been over 300 yards in nearly every game this season and the only one he missed was at 295 yards. He has passed for 400 yards twice already this season and he is completing a staggering 70 percent of his passes and it is likely that no one but Drew Brees will catch up to him at all this season. Making it even more amazing is his age, as Manning is getting near 40, yet he appears to be playing the best football of his career.

The Broncos are still the favorites in the AFC, but they may not even win their own division, as the Kansas City Chiefs are 8-0 on the season and they are tops over the Broncos in the West. The team has been turned around under Andy Reid and after going 2-14 last season, no matter how the rest goes, he should be winning coach of the year. The team is the first to go 8-0 after having the number one overall pick and the team has plenty of talent with Jamaal Charles, Alex Smith and Dwayne Bowe.

Eddie Lacy has helped transform the Packers offense into an attack that can finally run and he has been the most impressive rookie so far on offense this season. Lacy should continue getting carries and he is leading all rookies in rushing yards so far, while Giovani Bernard is a sleeper. Calvin Johnson is by far the best fantasy player and that was even before his 329 yard performance last week. He should continue on that path this season.
