The Detroit Tigers lost to the Boston Red Sox in the American League Championship Series and one reason the team struggled was due to the fact that Miguel Cabrera was injured and now the third baseman has had successful surgery on his groin and expects to be ready for spring training.

According to ESPN.com, the Tigers announced that Cabrera underwent surgery and said that it was successful and that their star player should be ready for the season next year. Cabrera was injured for the latter part of the season and still hit massive numbers with a .348 average with over 40 home runs and 135 RBIs and he likely will win his second straight MVP. Cabrera was injured in the playoffs and played through it and now he will have the offseason to heal up.

Cabrera led the Tigers to another division title, but the team once again lost in the playoffs and now will have a new manager after Jim Leyland stepped down. The Red Sox and the Cardinals are in Game 6 and now Cabrera can prepare for next season. Cabrera won the triple crown last season and he likely will win another MVP this year.
