MLS Playoffs 2013 Schedule: Postseason Starts Wednesday For Conference Knockout Rounds

The Major League Soccer playoffs are all set and now teams will be facing off starting on Wednesday for the conference knockout rounds and the first one will be the Colorado Rapids at Seattle Sounders facing off in Washington and that game will be at 10:30 pm on MLS Live.

The schedule includes a game on Thursday in the Eastern conference knockout round, as the Montreal Impact will take on the Houston Dynamo in the matchup. The first matchups in the playoffs are elimination games for the lower seeds with the fourth and fifth place teams and then the schedule will move into the next round. The conference semifinals and then the conference finals take the home and away leg with total goals deciding the series and for a full schedule, click here.

Thursday has the second elimination game and then the semifinals are partially set with Sporting Kansas City hosting the New England Revolution and on the other side, the LA Galaxy will be taking on Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy are defending champions and some of the conference semifinals will be on NBC Sports Network as well as NBA and ESPN.

Last week the Galaxy made it in, here is a report: The MLS Playoffs are approaching and one team that knows they will be in the postseason is the Los Angeles Galaxy, as the club is now officially in the playoffs after pulling out a draw on Sunday against the San Jose Earthquakes and now they are closing in on the top of the conference standings.

In the western conference, the Timbers are currently in first place just ahead of Real Salt Lake, while the Galaxy are now in third place and clinched for the postseason. The rest of the standings shake out with Colorado and Clint Dempsey's Seattle Sounders tied up and then behind them are the Whitecaps from Vancouver and FC Dallas and Chivas USA next in line. The Eastern conference has the Red Bulls of New York up top with 56 points to have the advantage over Kansas City and in third is Montreal, followed by Chicago, who is tied with the Impact with 49 points. New England and Houston are toed in the standings behind that, while Philly, Columbus, Toronto and DC United rounds things out.

The Galaxy comes into the week with 15 wins and seven draws and they are now just two points behind the Quakes, who have 13 wins and nine draws and now the third place team is in, leaving two more for the five that will make the playoffs. Landon Donovan looked good in his return to the team and now they know they will be in the playoffs and will have the chance to defend the title they won last year with Donovan and David Beckham.
