Washington Redskins Rumors: Pierre Garcon Rips Robert Griffin III Pass Game, WR Blames Struggles on Offense as Mike Shanahan Not Panicking After Loss

The Washington Redskins' season has not exactly gone as planned. The hype surrounding the sophomore season of Robert Griffin III has yet to be met with the mirroring results, leaving the team at 2-5 to start the season. As fans and players try and figure out the struggles plaguing the team, Pierre Garcon blames the lack of passing and unintentionally rips his quarterback.

Griffin put up a 45.4 passer rating against the Denver Broncos and never once looked comfortable throwing the ball. He finished with 132 yards total while tossing two interceptions in the process. Garcon is convinced this is the reason for the struggles plaguing the Redskins this season. While not naming Griffin specially, he believes the entire offense is stalling with the lack of accurate passing.

"We've had trouble passing all year to tell you the truth. What do you think?" Garcon said, via NFL.com. ".... I can only run the routes, try to make separation. That's the only thing I really can do. Doesn't matter (who you're playing). If you suck at passing, you suck at passing ... We've just got to figure it out."

Prior to Sunday's game, the Redskins looked like they might be able to sneak a win past the Denver. The Broncos defense had given up an average of 380 yards passing per game to start the season, but Griffin could not get past them.

Is Griffin to blame for Washington's season? While no one expected miracles out of the quarterback who made his way back from an ACL tear suffered at the end of last season, expectations were that he could mirror at least some of the potential displayed in 2012. Instead, his completion percentage, passer rating and rushing yards per game have all dramatically decreased this year. As of now, Griffin as a 9-to-8 touchdown to interception ratio. Last year, he has 20 touchdowns to just five picks.

Mike Shanahan admitted disappointment over the loss to Denver. He believes the team failed to take advantage of the lead and capitalize on chances.

"It's very easy to get kind of fired up, especially coming back here and wanting to win the football game," Shanahan said. "That's why it's disappointing when you have the opportunity there in the third quarter and you don't take advantage of those opportunities."
