Brandon Gibson Injury: Miami Dolphins WR Out for Season as Josh Gordon, Greg Little Trade Target Before Deadline? Brian Hartline Value Increases in Week 9

The Miami Dolphins' season has taken a turn for the worse as the team lost their third-straight game. Desperate for a jolt of momentum, the Dolphins continue to take hits. After losing to the New England Patriots, the Dolphins could be one wide receiver short after Brandon Gibson left with a knee injury.

Gibson jumped up for a pass from quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the first quarter of Sunday's game. He knew something was immediately wrong as he felt a sharp pain in his knee. The Dolphins wide receiver will undergo an MRI on Monday, but it is likely he is out for the remainder of the season.

The loss of Gibson is a big hit for the Dolphins. The wide receiver was one of the big free agent additions in the offseason along with other receiver Mike Wallace. Entering into Sunday's game, Gibson was the second-leading wide receiver with 326 yards on 30 catches.

"They said it doesn't look too good, so it doesn't look good," said Gibson, who caught a 4-yard touchdown pass in the opening quarter. "I'm going to keep my head up and try to have the best attitude. Each and every game was a good experience for me. I feel like I was getting better. But this kind of puts a damper on it now. I'll take from my experiences and learn from it."

The Dolphins will need to add another receiver to the roster to make up for the loss. Miami recently lost two practice squad receivers who were claimed by other teams. They have Nate Palmer and Ryan Spadola that could get promoted once Gibson is placed on injured reserve.

The team could target a trade before Tuesday's deadline. Several wide receivers are up for grabs including Josh Gordon and Greg Little from the Cleveland Browns. The issue will be whether or not it is worth to make a move for another receiver at this point in the year. The Browns would likely request high draft picks for Gordon plus another player in the deal. There is almost no chance Miami pulls that off. Little would be a lot cheaper, likely only requiring a low draft pick in exchange for the receiver.

For now, Miami will stick with Palmer. It seems more likely they look towards the free agent market for another wide receiver rather than making a trade from a big-named player instead.
