Baltimore Ravens Trade Rumors: Josh Gordon or Kenny Britt Options At Wide Receiver Before Deadline?

Oct 24, 2013 01:34 PM EDT

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off of a Super Bowl championship and after losing so many players in free agency and to injuries, the team needs to make a move ahead of the trade deadline to get back into gear and going for w aide receiver like Josh Gordon, Justin Blackmon, Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt could be the way to go.

Now, this is all pure speculation, but with the Ravens needing a receiver, these are the names that have come up the most heading into the deadline and while it could be tough to pull off a deal, these names could come up. The Ravens have been dealing with injuries on offense all season, including to Dennis Pitta, Jacoby Jones, Ed Dixon and more and with Torrey Smith and Marlon Brown as the top receivers, the team could use a boost at the position and with Ozzie Newsome being a smart GM, he could try to pull off a deal. The team is ranked 14th in passing yards per game and 28th in rushing and while that latter rank is due to injuries to Ray Rice, it also has to do with the fact that the team has had an inconsistent passing attack and an inconsistent offense, losing the last two games while scoring under 20 points. The team has scored 30 points just once this season and over the past two weeks they have not been exciting to watch by any stretch.

Any of these receivers would add a big dynamic to the Ravens offense, especially someone like Nicks or Gordon. Blackmon likely will not get traded by the Jaguars, but he is an interesting option as well and if he goes, he would immediately be the best player on offense not names Ray Rice or Joe Flacco. In three games this season Blackmon has been explosive and if he can keep it together, he has the potential to be a star in the league.

Hakeem Nicks is having a bit of a down season after coming off injuries and since he is in a contract year and the Giants are doing terrible, he has come up in many trade rumors. The Giants usually don't make deals like this and they probably won't here, but if the Ravens decide to go for it all again, they could try and get Nicks and that could be a huge snag for the team going forward. Nicks is a big receiver with some of the largest hands in the league and he would make a dynamic pair with Torrey Smith on the outside. The Giants are not a team that usually gives up like that, but at 1-6, anything can happen.

The most likely player to move is Gordon, as the Browns have said there are offers on the table and he is by far their best player on offense. Last season as a rookie he had 50 catches and 805 yards and he is already well on his way to besting those numbers, even with him missing two games. He could be the dynamic option that the Ravens are missing this season and they could try and make a deal with their AFC North rival.
