The BCS Rankings had their much anticipated debut on Sunday night after the college football schedule finished up this weekend and there were some surprises at the top, as Alabama took the number one spot, while Florida State jumped over Oregon after a win against Clemson, stunning many after the Ducks were votes and the number two ranked team for the season in the AP Top 25 poll.

Alabama and Oregon have been in the top spots for a number of weeks and were ranked there again in the AP poll on Sunday and also in the USA Today poll. According to ESPN.com, the rest of the rankings included Oregon behind Florida State at number three in the BCS by just a bit, while Ohio State and Missouri rounded out the top five. The Tigers have been climbing in the rankings for weeks after winning against Georgia and they pulled off another big win this weekend to stay undefeated and now they have moved up in all the polls, including in the BCS. Florida State won a huge game over Clemson in the ACC showdown and now they have the chance to make it to the national championship game if they can run the table, which is a much simpler prospect now that they have blown out Clemson, who was ranked number three in the country before losing.

FSU was ranked fifth and now they have moved over Oregon in the BCS standings and Jameis Winston is putting himself firmly in the Heisman race if he keeps up his play as a redshirt freshman. The rest of the top 10 is finished out by Stanford, Miami, Baylor and Clemson with Texas Tech coming in at the end. Stanford has the strength of their schedule on their side, as they are ahead of two teams that are undefeated and according to ESPN.com, the current rankings are decided by the USA Today and Harris polls in one third each and also a composite rank and that is how Florida jumped over Oregon.

The SEC has continued to do well despite a number of teams losing in Texas A&M and LSU, while Auburn and Missouri were the big jumpers. After the top 10, Auburn, UCLA, LSU and Virginia Tech are next and now Alabama and Florida State have a clear shot for the championships if they win out, but that always is tough. Alabama still has LSU to play and while FSU got past Clemson, they still have the ACC championship to play as well. Other teams in the BCS rankings includes Northern Illinois, who had a bit game from Jordan Lynch this weekend, as well as Fresno State, Oklahoma, Nebraska and UCF after defeating Louisville.
