Michael Vick Injury: Chip Kelly Evaluating Nick Foles as Philadelphia Eagles Starting QB After Backup Shines in Week 6 Win

According to Michael Vick, he is a long ways from returning to action. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is continuing to suffer from a hamstring injury and as he sits, Nick Foles shines as his replacement. The Eagles beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the hands of Foles and now Chip Kelly is considering making the move permanent.

Vick insists he is not worried about losing his starting job to Foles. Well he might need to start worrying after the backup threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns in the Sunday win. The veteran remained complimentary of his backup after game, saying all the right things to the media.

"Not at all. It's the game of football," Vick said, via PhillyMag.com. "Nick's a great player. He's a great football player. He does exactly what he needs to do when he goes out on the field. That's not something I'm gonna worry about. I'm gonna worry about getting healthy."

Foles looked extremely comfortable on Sunday running the fast-paced Kelly offense. In two games as the starter, he has tossed for 677 yards and seven touchdowns. On Sunday he went 22 of 32 in passing and did not record an interception.

"I feel really comfortable here. I feel comfortable with our personnel, our plays, everything," Foles said, via ESPN.com. "It helps when you have a great relationship with the players, the coaches, and when you go into the game you're all on the same page. ... Everybody stuck together, and it was another team win."

The performance has Kelly once again evaluating the quarterback situation in Philadelphia. While the head coach dismissed the idea that one game is enough to make a change permanent, he will consider things while also looking at the health of Vick.

"We'll evaluate everything," Kelly said, via Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com. "We'll go back and watch the film, see what he did, see where we are, see where Mike is."

If Vick really does have a long road to return, he might not be needed after a few weeks. Foles will continue to get better as the season continues and that will only escalate the longer the veteran is out. Vick admits that having Foles behind him makes it easier to not rush his return back onto the field. However, if the backup puts on another big game, he might want to.
