Oct 13, 2013 08:04 PM EDT

The Washington Redskins won the NFC East last season and while they have gotten off to a disappointing 1-3 start under quarterback Robert Griffin III, the team is still in the thick of things and with the Dallas Cowboys on the schedule for Sunday night football in Week 6, the team can pull even in the win column with the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Texas starting at 8:30 on NBC.

The Cowboys are coming off of one of the most entertaining games of the year after losing to the Denver Broncos 51-48 last week and Dallas got over 500 yards from Tony Romo in a fantastic game and he now has the chance to rebound against one of the weakest secondaries in football this season. The Cowboys are coming into the game with the fourth ranked rushing defense in yards per game and the team is averaging over 280 yards per game and the team is ranked in the top 10 in passing yards per game and the team has lost two straight games as it tries to rebound against the Redskins on Sunday night in the primetime game on NBC.

The Redskins come into the game after having a bye and the Cowboys will be looking for a win after losing two straight games to the San Diego Chargers on the road and the Denver Broncos at home. Washington has had an up and down start to the year and Griffin has the chance to rebound against the Cowboys on Sunday night and he comes into the game with over 1,200 passing yards this season with six touchdowns and while the offense hasn't been as productive as it was last year, the Cowboys defense will give the Redskins some nice matchups, including with Pierre Garcon and Leonard Hankerson and how well Alfred morris plays should be a bit part of the outcome as well.

Garcon has 29 catches for over 300 yards this season and has been the most consistent receiver for Griffin, while Hankerson has been a nice surprise early on for the team. The Redskins have a very tough schedule coming up and there are no breaks anymore after their bye week came very early in the season in Week 5. The Philadelphia Eagles won, so the Cowboys will need to keep pace in the division and the Redskins don't want to fall farther back, although they won't be in last place since the NY Giants have been terrible at 0-6. The Redskins can totally play themselves back into the division with a win on Sunday night.

Following the game against the Cowboys, the Redskins schedule doesn't have any "easy games" at all, with the Chicago Bears coming to town next before the Denver Broncos host the team in what could be an epic matchup. The team the hosts the Chargers before two straight road games and they will head out against the Vikings and then the Eagles before hosting the San Francisco 49ers in a huge Monday night football matchup and then the team will continue playing at home for two more weeks against the NY Giants and Kansas City Chiefs and then they finish with the Falcons, Cowboys and the Giants.
