Peyton Manning, Broncos, Take Field for First Time Together

May 21, 2012 02:13 PM EDT

The Denver Broncos kicked off OTA's on Monday, which in this circumstance is very exciting news.  Organized team activities, or "practices" as they are known to the common folk, are not usually generators of much excitement as they have become just another aspect of a chaotic and busy NFL offseason.  The popularity of the NFL Draft and the hyped frenzy that is free agency have kept OTAs from becoming the event that MLB's "pitchers and catchers" has become.

But today in Denver, the Broncos are getting their first official look at their future HOF QB while Peyton Manning prepares for his return to the playing field. Due to the time needed in order to facilitate a proper recovery from multiple neck surgeries, Manning was forced to miss the entirety of the 2011 season.  His absence exposed the substantial weaknesses of his former team, the Indianapolis Colts, and the organization opted to rebuild.

Manning, plans to bring the Broncos to the next level, after they have spent several years mired in the "mid-card" of the NFL.
According to the AP, Manning has looked like his old self in practice but refuses to comment on the status of his neck.

The Bronco's first selection of the 2012 draft, second round pick Derek Wolfe, will miss Monday's OTA in order to attend his graduation ceremony at the University of Cincinnati.
