Manchester United has a sense of relative calm heading into their next Premier League matchup, as star Wayne Rooney appears happy and settled for the first time in months after dealing with tons of speculation about transfers over the summer to clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.
According to ESPNFC.com, Rooney said that he is "happier" playing for Manchester United under new manager David Moyes, as he has been playing Rooney at forward, something that has pleased him this season so far. Rooney has previously said that he was disappointed by the way Sir Alex Ferguson played him last year at midfield and that this season he is much more satisfied with where he has played and he said that he hopes to remain in that position for the majority of the season.
Rumors blew up into headlines and speculation about the future of Rooney, but now he seems satisfied and firmly planted in Old Trafford and Moyes could continue playing him up for the rest of the season if it continues to be successful. Rooney said that he feels best playing up front and that while he could go back once his career gets into the latter stages, for now he would like to remain on the attack.
Rooney admitted that last season had its issues and that he is glad now that he is past the transfer rumors of the summer and he can concentrate on football. Rooney spoke about being "settled" and that he has had no issues with the club overall about his future with the team.
Manchester is coming off of a Premier League matchup with Sunderland that they won 2-1 and that came after a Champions League first phase draw with Shakhtar Donetsk. Before that the team lost to West Bromwich 2-1 in Premier play and that came after a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup. The team will next play against Southampton in Premier League play.
