A's vs. Tigers Score: Lineups, Updates, Play-by-Play and Coverage of ALDS Game 4 at 5 p.m. ET

Oct 08, 2013 04:52 PM EDT

Follow the live score of the Oakland Athletics vs. Detroit Tigers at 5 p.m. ET as both teams battle for a spot in the ALCS. The scoring updates will provide play-by-play, stats and lineups for Game 4 of this A.L. Division Series.

The A's are one win away from capturing the ALDS, advancing to their first A.L. Championship Series since 2006. After so much suffering and defeats at the hands of the Tigers, the A's can right the ship with a victory. They will have Dan Straily on the mound and their big bats will face a familiar Doug Fister who they obliterated during the regular.

Check out the A's starting lineup as they will look to put another hurting on Fister.

Athletics Lineup
1. Coco Crisp CF
2. Josh Donaldson 3B
3. Jed Lowrie SS
4. Brandon Moss 1B
5. Yoenis Cespedes LF
6. Seth Smith DH
7. Josh Reddick RF
8. Stephen Vogt C
9. Eric Sogard 2B

The Athletics have a couple of guys who are red hot through the first three games of the series. Table setter, Crisp is hitting .333. Cespedes, not known for his batting average, is hitting .385 in this series. Smith made his presence felt in the batting lineup on Monday, going 2-4, as the DH is hitting .500.

The Tigers have a dynamic offense that has only been able to score six total runs in this series. Why are the struggling? Health? Age? Who knows, but they will have to put up some runs as the Tigers face elimination.

Tigers Lineup
1. Austin Jackson CF
2. Torii Hunter RF
3. Miguel Cabrera 3B
4. Prince Fielder 1B
5. Victor Martinez DH
6. Jhonny Peralta LF
7. Alex Avila C
8. Omar Infante 2B
9. Jose Iglesias SS

The hottest hitter in this lineup is Infante, who's hitting .300. Everybody else is either hitting .250, .200 or posting numbers like Iglesias who is hitting .111 or Jackson who is batting .091 in this series.

Without their table setters getting on base, the Tigers can't strike fear on their opponents. The A's pitchers have avoided pressure situations and their burst in Game 3, providing Jarrod Parker with three runs to work with. Peralta was a Tiger whose presence made a big difference in the Tigers' lineup after driving in two runs that tied the game in the fifth inning on Monday.

The Tigers will need more clutch hitting as the A's team will be looking to take an early lead and bury the Tigers' spirits of coming back in this series.
