Manchester United is gearing up for a tough UEFA Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday to continue the first phase of play and the club comes into the match after a Premier League loss to West Bromwich and they will be looking to rebound.

United has had an up and down start to the year, as they lost to Manchester City 4-1 in the Premier League and while they got a 4-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen to start the first phase, they will be looking to continue along that streak. Manchester is currently in first place in their Group in the Champions League, tied with Shakhtar with three points and now the actual lead will be decided on Wednesday.

The match on Wednesday will be an away game for United at Donbass Arena and the team knows that Shakhtar will be looking to continue their strong play, as they defeated Real Sociedad in their first champions league matchup. The club also has some momentum after pulling out a draw after being down 2-2 in the Ukrainian Premier League to Metallurg Donetsk and Manchester will be looking to avoid another letdown.

ESPN reports that Robin van Persie could be in the starting lineup for the match and the team could use a spark on Wednesday. Persie is still doubtful for the match after dealing with a thigh injury, but the fact that he made the trip means he could be a factor on Wednesday. According to Sky Sports, Manchester has not been able to keep things clean over the past eight matchups in the league and the Shakhtar has split the last six matchups with teams from the Isle, going 3-3 against each other.

David Moyes has had to deal with plenty of headlines as United has been off to a rough start this year and now the team will be looking to get another win in Group A to take a full lead on the board. The match will be going down at 9:45 p.m. local time and 2:45 p.m. ET on the East coast in the US and Fox Soccer 2Go will be handing the streaming in the United States. The start in the Premier League for United has been dreadful, as they have earned just seven points over the first six matchups and now they would like to start turning things around with a solid game in Champions League play.

Shakhtar is no walk-over after being the winners of their home league titles over the past four years and they will be looking to give United more things to worry about going forward in the group. Some have criticized the lineups for the club this season and with things starting off on the wrong foot, ownership is likely getting ready to spend some more, as ESPN.com is reporting that Moyes will have up to £50 million to spend for the next transfer window. The team may look at names like Andres Iniesta from Barca as well as Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, but so far those have been just rumors.
