Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Kobe Bryant 'Progressing Well' But Is Most Likely To Miss The Preseason

Although Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has shown impressive results in his recovery process to a his torn Achilles tendon, there's still questions as to when fans will be a able to see the superstar back on the court .

Lakers spokesman, John Black, spoke with Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times and said that while Bryant is progressing, a return date is still not set:

"He's progressing well and has met all the targets and milestones of his rehab, and we expect him to make a full recovery. One of the key issues is to make sure he builds up strength and endurance not only in his Achilles but also in his legs, knees, back and core."

There's no doubt that Bryant is clearly progressing well with his recovery, however, it is likely that he'lll miss the entire eight-game preseason with the Lakers. Black also stated that the Lakers aren't ready to consider an exact return date for Bryant, saying:

"We're going to avoid giving a target return date until he's doing full weight-bearing running and on-court basketball activities, at the earliest," Black said.

An Achilles tear is already bad enough so it's important that the Lakers and Bryant take their time in making a return. With Bryant's age also playing a factor into things, it'll be important that he not push it too much and maybe it's time that he takes a step back so that other players could flourish.

Bryant has shown to be relentless throughout his entire career and is undoubtedly trying to make it back to the court as soon as possible.

But when he does make it back to the floor, defenders better watch out as he'll more than likely be looking to shatter expectations, which could lead to one of his best performances of his career.
