Cardinals vs. Lions Week 2: Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson Face Off As Best WRs In NFL Sunday

Sep 13, 2013 05:19 PM EDT

The Arizona Cardinals and the Detroit Lions will be playing on Sunday for Week 2 on the NFL schedule and when the game kick off, the field will have two of the top receivers in the game opposing each other in Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.

According to ESPN.com, Fitzgerald spoke about Johnson ahead of the game on Sunday, calling him the best receiver in the game and by most accounts from people in football and in the media, the two are considered the best in the league. Johnson has put up monster numbers for the Lions over the past few seasons and had nearly 2,000 receiving yards last year and Fitzgerald looks like he is ready to rebound after a down season now that Carson Palmer is in the fold.

Arizona head coach Bruce Arians spoke about Johnson and the matchup on Sunday as well and now both receivers will have the chance to show off their skills in Phoenix. Johnson and Matthew Stafford had record seasons two years ago and last year Johnson was dominant again in 2012 and so far this season he has four catches for 37 yards, obviously nothing crazy, but it's only one game. Fitzgerald had to live through a tough year with John Skelton, Kevin Kolb and Ryan Lindley and now he has a solid quarterback in Carson Palmer.

The Cardinals got shut out in the fourth quarter and allowed the Rams to score 14 points to lose Sunday and now they will try to avoid an 0-2 start to the year. Last season the team started 4-0 and then lost 11 of 15 and now Fitzgerald and Johnson will get to show off why they are the two best receivers in fantasy and reality.
