Tim Tebow Rumors: Jaguars Starting Chad Henne Against Oakland Raiders Gives Free Agent Chance To Join Roster At Quarterback?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are dealing with yet another injury to quarterback Blaine Gabbert and with Chad Henne starting for the team against the Oakland Raiders in Week 2, if he struggles, could Tim Tebow have a chance to make the team?

While the Jaguars repeatedly said they were not interested in Tebow, that was before Gabbert was injured and that was before the team scored two points in the opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The offense looked atrocious on Sunday and the fans and the team could get some excitement on the field with Tebow at quarterback. Tebow was released by the Patriots and while he wasn't great in the preseason, he showed some solid progress at quarterback and could be a very good option for the Jaguars.

The team does not have much to play for this season and with Henne coming in for Gabbert, the team also has Ricky Stanzi after picking him up off waivers and he will be behind Henne. Tebow could bring some excitement to the team and while many don't see him as a starting quarterback, he has accomplished much more than Gabbert has. Henne passed for 2,084 yards, 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season and now head coach Gus Bradley has said that he hopes Henne can take the starting job over and handle it well enough until Gabbert returns.

Gabbert originally injured his thumb in the preseason and he later got a cut on his right hand against the Chiefs and is needed over 10 stitches to get it fixed up and now he will be out against the Raiders and possibly more. The team will look at him later in the week to see if he can return in Week 3 and now Henne will be the staring option after coming in for Gabbert last year as well. The Jaguars will be bad this season and even though they have no real interest in Tebow, they could use a player like him rather than shunning the idea, as he had some success in the preseason, including throwing a nice 54-yard score against the Giants.

Gabbert passed for 121 yards in the game with two picks and he has not been the player the Jags expected when they made him a first round top 10 pick. The team has been suffering for a few years and after going 2-14 last season, why not give Tebow a shot?
