The Green Bay Packers started off the season with a tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers that included some bad officiating calls and despite that, the schedule doesn't get any easier with the Washington Redskins in Week 2 and the team could be dealing with a missing offensive star as Jermichael Finley was out of practice with a toe issue.
According to ESPN.com, the tight end missed practice on Wednesday due to a toe injury and while he was able to play in most of the game against San Francisco, the team wanted to be cautious to give him the chance to play on Sunday. Finley said that he likely will play on Sunday against the Redskins and the Packers could use him after losing to the 49ers and the report said that he hurt his toe early in the game and was able to continue playing despite getting hurt.
Finley was solid against the 49ers, making five receptions for nearly 60 yards, although he did have a big drop in the game and now the Packers need to rebound against the Redskins after falling to 0-1 with the 49ers defeat. The team doesn't have much depth at tight end, but fortunately for fantasy owners, if Finley can't go, two of the best options for the week include Jordan Cameron and Julius Thomas.
Both players are poised to continue putting up big numbers after opening Week 1 with over 100 yards each, including Thomas, who had two touchdowns and over 100 yards receiving from Peyton Manning and with Denver playing the NY Giants, he should have plenty of chances against a weak linebacker unit. Thomas torched the Ravens on Thursday last week and he now is one of the prime sleeper players in all of football and both he and Cameron have athletic basketball backgrounds that make them prime players to use.
Cameron had over 100 yards and that is promising in Norv Turner's offense and the team likely will got to him again, since they are playing the Ravens, who Thomas totally lit up in Week 1. Finley likely will play, but both options are very good for fantasy this week and those two players are trending upwards as the team wears on.
