New York Giants Week 2 Injury Report: Prince Amukamara Sits Out Practice Due to Concussion

Sep 11, 2013 03:58 PM EDT

Prince Amukamara sat out Wednesday's practice as the New York Giants are getting ready to face the Denver Broncos in Week 2 of the NFL season. Amukamara looked ready to have a great season, leaving a great impression during the preseason and hustling after balls like he had failed to do so. Following a concussion that knocked him out of the game, Amukamara is now on the Giants' Week 2 injury report.

Amukamara was playing well in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. He even tipped a ball into the hands of Ryan Mundy. Amukamara finished the game with four tackles before running into Mundy later in the game as they both attempted to tackle Cowboys' wide receiver, Terrance Williams. Williams ducked right on time, making Amukamara and Mundy both miss. Instead, both Giant corners rammed each other and immediately dropped to the floor.

Here's the replay.

It looks extremely painful at regular speed as Mundy and Amukamara had a full on collision.

Amukamara's presence on the field is crucial for the Giants, but it's been reported that the second-year corner will sit out practice, possibly making him unavailable for Sunday's game against the dynamic Broncos' team. If there's anything the Giants will need in that game, as Peyton Manning takes the ball, it is cornerbacks. Peyton is likely to make the Giants' life miserable in their Week 2 meeting. He's coming off a 462 passing yard and seven touchdowns performance. The Giants will need as many able bodies as they can to defend Peyton's targets.

Updates on Amukamara's conditions will be available as this Week 2 matchup draws closer. As of right now, Amukamara is sitting out due to protocol for players who suffer a concussion.
