New York Giants Andre Brown
New York Giants Andre Brown (R) is chased by New York Jets Antonio Allen (L), Dawan Landry (2nd L) and Darrin Wells (2nd R) in the second quarter of their NFL pre-season football game in East Rutherford, New Jersey, August 24, 2013."

Andre Brown played in the final preseason game of the year and broke his leg, leaving the Giants with David Wilson as the starting back and not much else behind him.

Clearly that didn't work out on Sunday night, as Wilson lost two crucial fumbles and the Giants looked inept as they gave up six turnovers and now the team is left wondering what will happen next. The team is looking at some free agent backs in Willis McGahee and Michael Turner as well as Brandon Jacobs, but either way they must fix the issues with Wilson.

Wilson fumbled last year in the opener as well and now the Giants have real issues after losing Sunday night 36-30 and it could be a factor the rest of the season and it all stems back to using Brown in the final preseason game.

Brown was being looked at as the starting running back this season with David Wilson and while the break wasn't super serious, it could keep him out for a while. According to ESPN.com, Brown said that he will be back soon after dealing with the fracture, but that won't happen after the team put him on the IR and he will be out at least half the season.

The Giants have Da'Rel Scott and Michael Cox on the roster, and each could be an interesting option to handcuff with David Wilson in deeper leagues until Brown returns from his injury. Last season he rushed for 385 yards and eight touchdowns on 73 carries and he was expected to be even more of a producer this season. Brown said the break was not too bad and now he joins a list with David Diehl, Victor Cruz, Brown as well as David Bass as players dealing with injuries.

The Giants could be a playoff team this season, but they will need a strong running game and that was centered around Brown. Brown made the most of his playing time before getting hurt, leading the Giants with eight touchdowns while rushing for 385 yards on 73 carries last season. With Ahmad Bradshaw hurt, he started his first-career game against the Panthers, rushing for a career-high 113 yards on 20 carries to go with two rushing touchdowns. He also added three receptions for 17 yards in the game as well and proved to be a solid receiver out of the backfield.
