Tim Tebow is now a free agent again after being released by the New England Patriots before the 53-man roster deadline and reports have come out that the quarterback has refused to change positions to try and make it in the NFL, still hoping for work as a quarterback.
When Tebow was originally released by the Jets he was a free agent for quite some time before the Patriots came knocking and that could be an issue for him going forward, as Tebow may not get any steady work in the league this year barring some type of big injury. Tebow came to the Patriots hoping to make it as a quarterback, but since the team carried just two the past few years, it was unlikely that he could make it.
Head coach Bill Belichick praised Tebow and his work ethic, but he realizes that it's not the Jets keeping four quarterbacks, it's the Patriots and they only need two - Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. Tebow played up and down in the preseason and finished with 145 yards passing and 91 yards rushing and he had a couple nice plays, including a 50-yard touchdown against the Giants.
After he was released, it seems now that Tebow's greatest NFL moment will be the divisional playoff game against the Steelers when he was with the Broncos. Tebow threw a pass to Demaryius Thomas in overtime and won the game, but after Peyton Manning hit the market, the Broncos pounced and that was it for Tebow time in Colorado. After last night's seven touchdown game, clearly that was the right choice and now Tebow must look and decide what to do about his NFL future.
Reports have come out that a team looked into signing Tebow if he changed positions, but the quarterback opted not to do that. Tebow struggled with accuracy in the preseason, missing badly on a few receivers and now after winning a national championship, the Heisman trophy, a division title and a playoff game, Tebow is a free agent with no home.
He won't be a fantasy football factor this season...but his name could be!
