Aaron Hernandez Arraignment Schedule: Court Will Read Formal Murder and Gun Charges, Lawyers Can Request Bail In Fall River Superior

Sep 06, 2013 01:18 PM EDT

The Aaron Hernandez murder case will move into its next stage on Friday as he is taken to the Fall River Superior court to get arraigned on murder charges in the death of Odin Lloyd.

According to the Boston Globe, Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned around 2 pm in the courtroom and at the hearing the court will formally read the charges against him, including five gun charges and first degree murder charges. Hernandez can request bail in the case, but it likely will not be granted and now he is en route to the courtroom. It is unclear whether his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins will be in court or whether new information will be revealed in the case.

Hernandez stands accused as the murderer in the case, which lawyers say stemmed from a dispute that Lloyd and Hernandez had at a nightclub. According to reports, Hernandez killed him for talking to the wrong people at a club and other reports have the death having to do with knowledge that Lloyd knew about Hernandez and his possible involvement in a double murder in Boston last summer.

The lawyers for Hernandez in the case have said that the evidence in the case is circumstantial and that he is innocent. Hernandez has said he is innocent in a jailhouse letter and he is being held for the murder due to clothing, shell casings, video and text message evidence. Hernandez was previously denied bail twice, but he could ask for it again and he was released from the New England Patriots the day he was arrested and now his NFL career is likely over, especially if he is convicted.

Hernandez is facing first degree murder charges and life in prison for the death of Lloyd and two other men are also in custody in Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace. Ortiz said that Wallace told him that Hernandez admitted to the shooting, but it is unclear if that will hold up in court.
