Sep 04, 2013 06:33 PM EDT

The US Open continues into Day 10 on Wednesday in Flushing and after some exciting matches, including a five set match between David Ferrer and Richard Gasquet, Rafael Nadal will be back in action against Tommy Robredo after his defeat of Roger Federer, while Victoria Azarenka will be playing against Daniela Hantuchova.

Rafael Nadal looks very strong and he will be facing a countryman on Wednesday and it comes after he won his last match in solid fashion and now he is into the quarterfinals and he still is undefeated on hard courts this year, winning two tournaments in a row. Nadal has barely lost since coming back from his injury and clearly the layoff has helped him and now he will be trying to get through to play some of the top players in the semis and Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic could be waiting in the finals.

Nadal has looked good on his serve and his backhand and he will need to be on his game to beat Robredo, especially after the way he dominated Roger Federer. Serena Williams went through to the semifinals in easy fashion after winning 6-0, 6-0 in the quarters and she looks very strong and it looks like Azarenka will be the one player she is faci9ng off against, as she won the last time the two players. The US Open would be her second straight victory at the slam and she has been on an amazing streak all ear, winning eight tournaments and losing four times since losing at the French last year.

Williams has even very strong and now Flavia Pennetta has advanced as well, defeating Roberta Vinci and now she will be through the semis as well. Nadal and Williams look to be the favorites right now, but with plenty of top players like Murray, Djok and Azarenka still alive, the weekend should be filled with stars. Nadal has been great since losing at Wimbledon and since missing out on the US Open last year for his injury, he has been amazing in his comeback and many are wondering if he has been even better than he was before the injury. Nadal would be the first player to get back to number one after having it three years previously if he can win and based on how he is playing, a win looks good.
