New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning (2nd R) warms up before facing the New England Patriots during their NFL preseason game in Foxborough, Massachusetts, August 29."

The New York Giants are one of the most storied and successful franchises in NFL history and after winning the Super Bowl two years ago, the team missed the playoffs in 2012 and now Eli Manning and company will be looking to get back to the postseason anyway they can.

Jerry Reese replaced a number of players through the draft and free agency and also got the Victor Cruz deal done and now the team is hoping they can also lock up Hakeem Nicks, keeping Cruz, Nicks and Manning together for the very immediate future. The offense suffered without Nicks healthy last season and if he can play in a full or mostly full schedule, the Giants should be back in the playoffs. The team lost Andre Brown at running back for at least a month and that will give second year player David Wilson a chance to open things up in the backfield.

The team needs to improve on defense after giving up way too many yards last season and one of the biggest questions will be whether Jason Pierre-Paul is healthy or not. Tom Coughlin is expecting a lot from the team and rookie Justin Pugh may get the chance to start when the G-Men open the season on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys on the road. The team plays the Denver Broncos at home next before travelling to play the Panthers and the Chiefs before coming home against the Eagles and then they will play the Bears, Vikings and Eagles before heading into the bye week.

The second half of the season starts at home against the Raiders, Packers and Cowboys, then the team will hit the road to play the Redskins and Chargers. The team closes the season with three tough games, including home against the Seahawks, the road against the Lions and finally at home against the Redskins to end the season and the past two years the NFC East has been decided on the final night of the year. Maybe it will again.
