Former New England Patriots quarterback Tim Tebow is now a free agent after passing through waivers and after playing a couple months for the team, rumors will start circulating about where he will play next and some may include the Seattle Seahawks, Chargers, Bears, Arizona Cardinals, CFL and AFL, which were all previous options mentioned.
According to ESPN.com, Tebow was cut before the 53-man deadline on Saturday by the Patriots and he was uneven at best during the preseason. Tebow did not play in the third preseason game against the Detroit Lions and his cut follows what happened to Brian Hoyer last year, as he didn't play in the third game and also was cut. The Patriots haven't played with three quarterbacks on the roster in three of the past four seasons and now Tebow is a free agent and his career in the NFL is up in the air.
The 26-year-old former first round draft pick has done more than some in the league, winning a division and a playoff game, but now after looking so-so in the preseason in three games, he was cut. Tebow passed for 145 yards, including 91 against the Giants and he also had a 52-yard touchdown in the game and some rumors that could come up include the same ones that reporters wrote about back after he was released by the Jets, including the Seahawks, Bears, Chargers, Saints and Cardinals.
Tebow looked sharp on a few passes and missed badly on some others and now he will start over after Bill Belichick gave him a chance to make the team. The Patriots like Ryan Mallett as Tom Brady's backup and Belichick has too much value for his roster spots to keep someone he won't use that much. Tebow is still young and could develop into a solid backup someday, but right now is not that time and he could get lucky if some teams deal with injuries.
