The first week of the college football season has been off to an exciting start with teams like Ohio State, Alabama and South Carolina starting off well and on Saturday night one of the most notable games is the LSU Tigers and the TCU Horned Frogs, as both teams are ranked in the top 20 and the matchup will be taking place at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

LSU comes into the season as national title contenders and both teams are entering the opening game of the year with key players up in the air, including running back Jeremy Hill for the Tigers and quarterback Casey Pachall for TCU, as either him or Trevone Boykin could get the start. Both teams have fantastic defenses and the Tigers were ranked in the top 10 when it comes to turnovers, as they each finished ranked in the top part of the nation. LSU has playmakers on defense, especially in the secondary and now the team comes back as the 12th ranked team in the nation despite losing eight defensive players to the NFL draft.

The Tigers have a number of players they will be expecting improvement from, including quarterback Zach Mettenberger as well as running backs Hill and Kenny Hilliard along with wideouts Jarvis Landry and Kadron Boone. Hill may not be playing much or at all after being reinstated following an offseason arrest and issue for punching someone at a bar and he was brought back to the team by Les Miles and he rushed for 755 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the team and he could play a small or big part in the game on Saturday night.

TCU now plays in the Big 12 after moving last year and of course LSU plays in the SEC and this marks another tough game to start the season for the team. The Horned Frogs are coming in after losing to Michigan State in their bowl game last season and ended up just 7-6 after having a better year before and the big question will be with Pachall after he left school last fall. The quarterback has lost just two of his 17 games as a starter and in the four games he played last season he had a 10:1 touchdown to interception ratio and the Horned Frogs could be much better on offense with him running things.

TCU has a very tough defense and Big 12 defensive player of the year Devonte Fields is going to be missing after being suspended two games for violating teams rules, and that allows the Tigers to focus more on other players after he finished with 10 sacks last year. The Tigers have the edge in the eight games the two teams have played, winning five, but they haven't played each other for quite some team, not meeting since the late 1960s.
