The U.S. Open hits its first weekend after an exciting week in Flushing and after a late night match on Friday night against Yaroslava Shvedova, the American star will take on another one in Sloane Stephens on Sunday in round 3 after moving along through the second round.

Williams has been on a fantastic run since losing at the French Open last year and she has already won eight tournaments this year and now one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament will be coming on Sunday, as Williams will take on Sloane Stephens, a player that beat her at the Australian Open. The feud between the two players came to the front after that match, with Stephens making a number of comments in the media that made her sound like a child compared to the veteran Williams.

Williams lost to Stephens in the Australian match, but everytime Stephens complains about Williams' fist pumping and screaming in matches, she just sounds whiny and now the two will meet on court again. Williams and Stephens snipped back and forth at each other in the media and Stephens now will have the chance to defeat her on the biggest stage, especially since Williams won the U.S. Open last year. Williams won her match in a quick amount of time on early Saturday morning at 1:05 am, taking it 6-3, 6-1 after waiting for Juan Martin del Potro and Lleyton Hewitt to finish their match.

Williams was a bit mad that she had to go on so late, but now she gets the chance to play for the quarter finals against Stephens, a fellow American and up and coming star. Williams has lost just eight games in the tournament so far and she also showed off some skills with her serve, having only one break point against her and hitting 22 winners to 3 for Shvedova. Stephens is seeded 15th and she advanced after defeating fellow American Jamie Hampton 6-1, 6-3 and now she will play her second straight match against an American. Stephens and Williams will be the most anticipated match thus far of the tournament.

The last time two Americans played at the US Open at as young of an age as Stephens and Hampton was back when the Williams sisters did it. Stephens has made it through to the fourth round at all the Grand Slams and after defeating Williams at the Australian Open, she will get another chance on Sunday and she has gone 15-3 over this year at Slams and Williams will be a tough test. Li Na was able to advance after rallying to defeat Laura Robson and now Williams will also have to play doubles on Saturday after having her match stretch into the morning.
