After a thrilling draw in their first game of the season, Everton will be keen to get their home campaign in the English Premier League started with a win over West Brom Saturday.

West Brom, however, will also be equally desperate to pick up three points after losing their first game, 1-0 at home to Southampton.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has had to deal with the possible unrest created by the double bid made by Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.

The former Wigan coach, though, is looking forward to managing his first home game at Everton.

"It's definitely up there (as a special moment)," he told evertontv. "The first friendly was special but the first competitive game will be even more special. It will be an incredible moment.

"But football is about players and not managers, and once you get into the competition all that matters is performing well and winning football matches, and we won't lose focus of that.

"The support of the fans is going to be vital and I'd rather they focused their energy towards the players than myself.

"Always the first home game is a great memory for a manager but the memory will be around the result and the performance and the relationship I can see between the fans and the players.

"We are always working towards that and making sure we keep up the levels we showed against Norwich and, if anything, get better in everything that we did.

"I think the performance at Norwich was very good in many aspects. But in football you cannot be fully satisfied unless you win."

Everton will be without Antolin Alcaraz, while fellow central defender Sylvain Distin is a doubt after picking up a knock in the 2-2 draw against Norwich last weekend.

Tony Hibbert could return to the squad after training all week, while Darron Gibson could also make an impression if he recovers from a knee issue.

West Brom will be without Nicolas Anelka who has been given indefinite leave on compassionate rounds following the death of his agent, while Zoltan Gera and George Thorne are long-term absentees.
