Kobe Bryant has kept himself busy these past couple months as he hasn't had much time in the gym while he's still recovering from surgery to his left torn Achilles tendon. He's toured through China and the Philippines and has managed to keep pace with his charity work to fight homelessness.
However, with the upcoming season soon approaching and his Los Angeles Lakers not even expected to make the playoffs this season, Bryant has been asked various questions to how he feels the Lakers will fair this season.
While appearing at the Nokia Theatre on Thursday in a special event titled, "Kobe Up Close Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel," Bryant was asked to weigh in his thoughts on where he projects the Lakers will end up in the playoff hunt.
"I think we'll finish 12th," said Bryant, poking fun at a national website's ranking of the Lakers in the Western Conference. "ESPN gets stuff wrong all the time."
Bryant was also asked during the interview to name one player he would bring on the Lakers if it were up to him, and it's really not surprising who he named.
"I'd take Derek Fisher back," answered Bryant. "We won five titles together."
Unfortunately for Bryant, Fisher Fisher signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement: "Fisher has proven to be a valuable member of our team and we are excited to have him back.
"He has such a positive impact on his teammates and the organization."
But who knows what the future will hold.
Fisher is currently 38-years-old and Bryant will soon be 35, but with Fisher only locked in for one year there could be a possibility of a reunion for the 2014-15 season should Fisher not retire.
Personally speaking it would only be the right thing to do as an organization to bring him back and let him retire as a Laker being that he helped bring five tittles to the organization.
Sure Kobe is Kobe, and Fisher may not be equally as important productive wise, but he was equally as important as a leader on the floor for many years.
It's only right that Bryant and Fisher are allowed to retire as Lakers.
