Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Luis Suarez Likely To Remain At Liverpool As Arsene Wenger Sets Sights On Swansea's Michu Or Manchester City's Edin Dzeko As Replacements For Transfer Bid

It would seem that Luis Suarez will likely be staying at Liverpool and may possibly even sign an extension on his contract according to reports from his homeland.

Martin Chaquero, a high-profile journalist with GolTV Latin America, has claimed that the striker told him personally that he will not be leaving Anfield despite the ongoing transfer saga.

Chaquero tweeted: "Luis Suarez confirms to me that he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans in recent weeks influenced his decision.

"Suarez see it as likely that he'll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool."

Kop captain Steven Gerrard also insisted that the club will do everything to keep Suarez, and also claimed the transfer window should shut down as soon as the season starts.

Gerrard said: "It's very important (Suarez stays). He is one of the best players in the world. I can understand why clubs are showing an interest in him.

"If I can use my influence to try to get him to stay then of course I will because I love playing with him and I don't want him to go. For Liverpool to be successful and move forward we have to keep our best players.

"At the moment, I haven't got a clue (if he will stay). I don't know what will happen over the next two weeks. But I am really confident he won't go to anywhere else in England."

The latest revelation has caused Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to strongly consider a Plan B, despite having Suarez has his No.1 priority to sign during this transfer season.

It's been confirmed that there have now been internal discussions about going for different options and with Manchester United's Wayne Rooney now off the radar, they appear to be willing to revisit an interest in Swansea's Spanish goal-machine Michu.

The Gunners have also put together an extensive scouting report on Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in the past and Wenger still rates him highly and would move with any encouragement from the club.
