Tim Tebow Rumors: Mixed Reviews For Tebow's Performance In A Joint Practice With The Eagles, Patriots Still To Hold Him As Third String QB

During a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, New England Patriot's backup quarterback Tim Tebow got his first glimpse at another team's defense  as he offered a mixed performance.

During the practice he threw a couple of touchdown passes in seven-on-seven drills, but also managed to throw an interception when wide receivers and cornerbacks worked one-on-one.

Tebow is currently listed behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett on the Patriots depth chart, but in his first scrimmage against an opposing defense, the focused seemed to remain on his passing and his timing with receivers in one-on-one, seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 settings.

Although there were rumblings of talks that the Patriots would consider shifting Tebow to the tight-end or fullback position, coach Bill Belichick is more interested in utilizing Tebow as the third-string quarterback.

According to former Heisman Trophy winner and Carolina Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke, the Patriots will be very pleased with the quarterback that they now possess.

"Do I think he can play the quarterback position in the NFL? Yeah, no question,'' Weinke told USA TODAY Sports Monday. "Like I told Tim when I found out (Monday) that he signed, 'You're locked and loaded, ready to go.''

Weinke added:

"Tim's about as competitive a guy as you're ever going to be around,'' Weinke said. "Tim didn't spend any time talking about the Jets releasing him. But at the end of the day, he's been humbled and he's hungry.

"That's good. He'll go up to New England. And they'll be pleased with the way he's throwing the football."
