The Detroit Pistons are riding high after signing Josh Smith in free agency and pulling off one of the biggest trades of the offseason after snagging Brandon Jennings from the Bucks and now the team has added another name to their backcourt as Peyton Siva signed a contract.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Siva signed with the team after being the number 56 pick in the second round of the draft and he joins a crowded backcourt with Jennings, Chauncey Billups, Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum and he will have to fight to get minutes. Siva was a star at Louisville and now he comes to the Pistons still needing some development after playing in the summer league in Orlando.

The deal adds another player to the mix for the Pistons and as Joe Dumars figures out if he wants to trade for Rajon Rondo, adding more depth to the backcourt will only help. While deals are not being talked about right now, teams that could possible get involved in a three way deal includes the Suns, Blazers, Wizards or Grizzlies, according to Yahoo Sports and the Sixers could also get in on the action depending on how things play out.

The Pistons have been one of the worst teams in the league over the past few years, but after making a splash with Smith as well as the Jennings trade, Dumars has done a quick turnaround of the franchise and now they will expect to be making a run for at least one of the bottom spots in the East this season. The Pistons are far removed from the perennial playoff team they used to be, but now they have the chance to be relevant again and that mostly is Dumars' doing and adding Billups back will only be a plus for the young players as well.

The Pistons pulled off the deal for Jennings by giving up young star Brandon Knight and the team has improved with the additions of Josh Smith, Chauncey Billups and Luigi Datome as well as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who was taken in the draft. Jennings put up great stats last season and averaged 17.5 points and a career-high 6.5 assists and now he comes to the team after career averages of 17 points, 5.7 assists and 2.4 turnovers over four seasons with Milwaukee and now he has the chance to prove why he should be considered one of the best young players in the NBA.
