Miami Heat Secures Division Title with a Knicks Knockout [SLIDESHOW]

The Miami Heat clinched the Southeast Division title after beating the New York Knicks 93-85.

LeBron James and Dwayne Wade combined for 57 points to overpower the Knick's leading scorer, Carmelo Anthony, who scored 42 points .  The Heat are focused on preparing for the playoffs in what could be a potential NBA playoff preview between New York and Miami.

If New York secures the seventh seeded spot, which is currently held by the Philadelphia 76ers, then the second seeded Heat can expect to return to Madison Square Garden for a first round series.

"This is obviously a lot of our favorite places to play, but I think it came at a good time for us," said Heat guard Dwayne Wade. "We were struggling, as in to play a complete game on the road, and what better place to come in and focus then here, where this team has been playing well and can embarrass you if you don't play your game. So understanding that this could obviously be a first-round matchup as well, I thought today we came in, we didn't play amazing, but played good enough to win the game. We did a lot of good things, so it was a good time for it."

With the Heat's recent slump, the chances of them catching up with the top seeded Chicago Bulls appear slim.  The good news is that the Miami team are winning again after losing 8 out of their last 12 road games.

"We needed to play better on the road," said James. "We know what it takes to win in the playoffs. It meant a lot (to win) today because of how we've been playing since the break on the road."

Miami has won two straight games after losing back-to-back against winning Easter Conference teams in the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls.

"We played under control, we played calm. We didn't get rattled by a run they made, the crowd getting loud, shots they made, steals they made. We just kept our composure," said Wade.

Miami is second in the Eastern Conference and the Knicks still has a shot at winning the seventh seed from Philadelphia.

New York's Carmelo Anthony played again without fellow star players Amare Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin, both on the injured list.  Anthony added 5 assists and 9 rebounds to his high scoring performance.  But the effort was not enough to match the firepower of the Heat's top scorers.

"It just happened so fast. They made some tough shots down the stretch the last six minutes of the game. We couldn't make shots."

The loss ended New York's 9-game home winning streak. Anthony previously scored a season high 43 points in the overtime victory against Chicago and was hoping for the same result against the Heat.
