The Washington Nationals are really hoping that starting pitcher Dan Haren can get back to form against the New York Mets as the right-hander is in desperate need for a win. Haren is 4-11 with a 5.79 ERA. He has gone eleven starts without a win while the Nationals have lost all 11 of those games. Haren cannot pitch deep into games while letting opposing hitters bat a nice .285 against him.

The Nationals offense has not exactly been giving Haren any kind of relief. Washington is averaging just 2.7 runs per game while losing 12 of their last 16 games. With runners in scoring position, the Nationals are batting .117. In a double-header Friday, they went 0-8 against the Mets.

In Haren's last four starts against the Mets, he has posted a 8.14 ERA. Not good. Marlon Byrd has his way with the pitcher, going 10 for 18 with two home runs. Daniel Murphy is 11 for his last 17 against Haren.

Dillon Gee is on a much different patch than Haren. He is 7-7 with a 4.07 ERA and is attempting to remain perfect against the Nationals on the season. He has won all three starts against the team with a 0.96 ERA. Gee is on a six-start win streak while not surrendering a run in 13 2/3 innings.

Washington has not had much work out in their favor lately. Bryce Harper re-aggravated a left knee injury. Dre Storen has been demoted to Triple A-Syracuse. They need a win on Saturday.
