Steven Gerrard will make his return from injury when Liverpool take on Indonesia XI in a preseason friendly in Jakarta Saturday.

All talk at Liverpool has hovered around the future of Luis Suarez, and Brendan Rodgers will be happy to take some of the focus back onto the pitch as the Reds look to make an impact and treat the fanatical fans in Asia to some entertaining football.

"The welcome we've had in this country has been incredible,"  Rodgers said.

"The fact there were so many waiting for us at the airport after we landed was very humbling.

"It makes you fully understand the status this club holds throughout the world. It gives me great pride to be manager of the first Liverpool team to come to Indonesia."

Gerrard was mobbed by fans on his arrival in Jakarta and the Liverpool captain is expected to start the game on Saturday.

While there is no doubt about the skipper at the club, Gerrard said he was intrigued to see who Brendan Rodgers will name as his deputy come the start of the season, with Jamie Carragher retiring at the end of last season.

"It's going to be an interesting one," he said. "The manager has given no clues away just yet.

"Whoever it is, all of the lads will get behind them.

"It's the manager's decision -- he makes all of the big decisions at the football club, certainly on the pitch anyway.

"I think he'll name it very soon, before the important games come around.

"There are four or five candidates vying for that spot so it's interesting."
