Manchester City Transfer News: Negredo and Jovetic Complete Switch to the Etihad as City Strengthen Their Attacking Lineup

Manchester City completed the signings of two potent forwards with Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic becoming the English Premier League club's third and fourth signings of the summer.

City have already inked deals for Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk and Jesus Navas from Sevilla, and Negredo now joins his former Sevilla teammate at the Etihad Stadium, while Jovetic finally seals his move away from Fiorentina.

Negredo completed his medical on Thursday, with Jovetic, a target for Arsenal early in the summer transfer window, doing the same on Friday.

"City are delighted to announce the signing of Alvaro Negredo, who becomes the club's third new recruit of the summer," City said in a statement on their official website.

"The Spanish international follows Jesus Navas in making the switch from Sevilla.

"He will join up with the squad on the preseason tour, and wear the number 9 shirt."

Negredo, who was La Liga's top Spanish scorer last season, admitted it was time to move on from Sevilla.

"I think in football there are stages," the 27-year-old said. "For four years I have been very happy, but I think my time was over here.

"I am happy to go to a big team."

Jovetic had always expressed his desire to leave Fiorentina this summer and was thought to be one of Juventus' top targets. However, with the Italian champions deeming the 23-year-old to be too expensive, it opened the door for City, after Arsenal cooled their interest a while back.

"Florence will remain in my heart," the 23-year-old told firenzeviola.it. "I came here as a boy and I'm leaving as a man. This is a beautiful city and I was really fine.

"But I'm happy to go to City because they play in the Premier League and they are a very important team. I just want to win something.

"And then I'll find my great friend (Matija) Nastasic.

"I will be leaving a very strong Fiorentina and I'm happy about that. I wish that they can win the scudetto.

"It would have been nice to play with Mario Gomez, but I wanted a change of scenery.

"I know that Fiorentina's fans are a little angry with me, it's normal, but I have never said anything bad, either about them or about Fiorentina."
