Robinson Cano's future with the New York Yankees could be at risk as the free-agent-to-be is likely to generate a lot of attention from other teams when the current season ends. One of the best second basemen in the league, Cano could garner top dollar from multiple teams. However, it appears the All-Star is looking to stay put in the Big Apple.

While at the All-Star game, Cano's father, former pitcher Jose Cano, said his son is looking to re-sign with the Yankees and not go anywhere else.

"I think he is coming back. I don't think he is going to go anywhere else. Hopefully, he can stay here," Cano said.

Cano stressed that at the end of the day, his son will be the one that makes the decision. As a father he certainly voice his opinion, but Cano has to be the one to decide if he wants to remain a Yankee at the end of the year when he officially becomes a free agent.

In Cano's current contract, he made $58 million in nine years. Multiple teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs are expected to show plenty of interest in Cano. The second baseman could command a contract of upwards of 6-8 years and $175 million. Cano's father believes the Yankees will offer up a deal that is very competitive.

"I have confidence that the Yankees are going to come up with something good in the end," Cano said. "I hope he can stay here. It is close to home and it's only three hours. If he going someplace else, it might be five or six hours. I don't want to go there. But it is not my decision. He has to make that decision."

Cano is hoping that one day his son succeeds Derek Jeter and becomes the captain of the New York Yankees. He wants his son to be a true leader and voice for the franchise. At 31, Cano has certainly been productive for the team. He was the starting second baseman for the American League's All-Star team. Cano is currently battling .302 with 21 home runs and 65 RBIs on the season. He is set to surpass his career-best 33 homers for a season.

Cano signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports in the offseason. His representatives are currently negotiating a contract that would prevent Cano from even having the chance to become a free agent.
