On the hill for the National League will be New York Mets' sensation and ace of the staff, Matt Harvey. In his first full season in the major league level, Harvey has taking baseball by storm. Had he played in a better team his record would reflect his success directly. However, his 2.35 ERA is pretty telling as he ranks fourth in baseball. Opposing Harvey, representing the American League will be the Detroit Tigers' new ace, Max Schezer, who recently suffered his first loss of the season. However, 13-1 is pretty impressive.
Get ready to see some fireworks as either the hitters will quickly catch on to whatever these pitchers are doing or the pitchers will blow these hitters away as they have totaled 299 strikeouts through the All-Star break, ranking second and third in baseball.The American League will have the true sluggers as their lineup features Chris Davis, Robinson Cano and Miguel Cabrera. To show how strong this lineup is, Joe Mauer will be batting eighth in that lineup.
To the surprise of many, the National League has won back-to-back all-Star games. Last year it was the unmentionable Melky Cabrera who rallied the N.L. to victory with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored. The N.L didn't hesitate to put up runs quickly off Justin Verlander, who seems to fold under pressure when playing the biggest games of his life.
