Johnny Manziel is getting into the headlines for everything but his football abilities. The Texas A&M quarterback has not exactly had the easiest of offseasons after becoming one of college football's biggest stars in 2012. Fresh off of winning the Heisman Trophy, Manziel is entering into his second season as a starting quarterback with heavy expectations and has not helped his image since football season wrapped.

Manziel was on hand to attend the annual Manning Passing Academy over the weekend, hosted by Peyton and Eli in Louisiana. The academy is a chance for college quarterbacks to get mentored by two of the best in the league and show off their skillset. This was Manziel's chance to really shine against some of college's top prospects, but instead his visit ended early.

Manziel's father claims the quarterback's early dismal from the passing academy was due to dehydration. However, other reports claim Manziel was out partying and showed up late to practice the next day. Either way, the situation did nothing to help Manziel, but no matter because Peyton still has his back.

"I enjoyed meeting Johnny," Manning said to ESPN.com. "I can remember a 20-year-old Eli missinga meeting and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year."

No matter the reason for the early departure, Manziel felt it was necessary to apologize for the incident. The Heisman Trophy winner was advised to be honest about why he was asked to leave early when discussing the incident with coaches and team officials. The camp was adamant that reports of Manziel out partying were false.

This is just another incident in the Manziel offseason portfolio. He recently made headlines after tweeting that he hated College Station and could not wait to leave. This led many to assume Manziel would be bolting for the NFL at the end of the year. On Monday, he pleaded guilty to a fake I.D. charge and bar fight.

Manziel is expected to be present at SEC Media Days on Wednesday and will be speaking. He can anticipate questions from over 1,200 media outlets about all offseason happenings this summer.
