The Detroit Pistons have had some rough years in the NBA recently and after signing Josh Smith as a free agent, the team is hoping to get a blast from the past in the form of point guard Chauncey Billups, who signed after leading the team to a championship years ago.

Billups signed for two-years amid interest from other teams and will be paid $2.5 million in 2013-14 after playing with the Clippers last season. The 36-year-old was with the Pistons from 2002 to 2008 before being traded to the Nuggets and he won finals MVP when the Pistons won the title in 2004, although he has dealt with injuries over the past few years, including last season.

Billups played in just 42 games the past two seasons with the Clippers and for his career he has averages of 15.4 and 5.5 assists in 16 seasons with the Pistons, Nuggets, Clippers, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks.
