Lakers Rumors: Jordan Farmar Signs As Team Needs Backup PG, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash Ready For Rebound Season After Dwight Howard Disaster

The Los Angeles Lakers had a tough season last year while dealing with Dwight Howard and now that the star has decided to move on the team is bringing back some other players, including point guard Jordan Farmar.

The two sides agreed to the veterans minimum according to ESPN.com and the team will need to buy out his deal with Anadolu Efes, Farmar's club in Turkey. Farmar is a fan favorite and was the backup point guard on the Lakers title teams in 2009 and 2010 and he will give the team some depth behind Steve Nash this season. The buyout won't hit the salary cap for the Lakers and the team also added Chris Kaman to a contract.

The Lakers are hoping to rebound after losing Howard and Farmar comes back to the team after signing a three-year, $10.5 million contract with his Turkish team. Farmar is originally from LA and played at UCLA in college and after leaving the Lakers he played with the Nets and was a scoring threat from behind the arc while scoring over 10 points per game.

Farmar played with the Lakers for four years after being drafted and was a solid bench player for the team as they won back-to-back championships. Farmar made his way to Atlanta in the Joe Johnson deal and last season he averaged over 13 points in 29 games and he also played seven games for Israel's Maccabi Electra of the EuroLeague, but said that he wanted to come back to the NBA eventually.

Farmar will probably continue to play point guard along with Steve Nash and Steve Blake and he also could play shooting guard depending on how long it takes Kobe Bryant to come back from his injury. The team now adds Farmar to the roster along with Bryant, Nash, Pau Gasol, Metta World Peace, Blake, Jordan Hill, Jodie Meeks and Chris Kaman, although Peace could be on his way out. The team is also looking at Robert Sacre and also will likely bring in Ryan Kelly after drafting him in the second round.

The Lakers will be looking to rebound after the rough season with Dwight Howard and once all that negative attention is gone, it will be easier to get back to basketball for the franchise.
