India face a must-win match against Sri Lanka in the final tri-series league match at Queen's Park Oval Tuesday.

With Sri Lanka pulling off a win against the West Indies in their rain-hit game, which went to two days, Monday, it is now up to India to overcome their neighbors if they are to reach the final.

Sri Lanka are currently in pole position to make the finals and have virtually sealed their place following a 39-run win over the Windies. They currently have nine points from three matches with a solid nett run rate of +1.019.

"Very pleased with the boys," Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews said after the win. "They showed a lot of character. Especially on the first day.

"I thought (Kumar) Sangakkara batted brilliantly, he held the innings together. We had a team talk, and we needed to get runs.

"Especially with D/L, batting first is a disadvantage. It is tough to play around rain delays batting first. We had to get the runs, and I am glad that we got the runs."

West Indies, who are done with their league engagements, have the same number of points as Sri Lanka, but a far inferior run rate of -0.383. India have five points and a win over Sri Lanka will take them to nine; but it will need to be a big one or ideally one with a bonus point as they find themselves with the lowest nett run rate of -0.524.

Virat Kohli was the star of the show in the previous match, making a brilliant century while leading the team brilliantly well to a comfortable win over the West Indies.

It is a win that pretty much kept India's hopes alive in the tri-series and Kohli will hope for more of the same come Tuesday.

"To get a hundred in my second game as captain, I am pretty happy," Kohli said last Friday after the win over West Indies. "I was getting good starts, but hitting that one shot straight to the fielder, so I was waiting for this big innings."
