Chelsea Transfer News: Double Rejection for Blues as West Brom and Norwich Turn Down Offers for Brown and Ruddy

Chelsea have faced a double rejection with both West Brom and Norwich City turning down offers for Isaiah Brown and John Ruddy respectively.

The Blues have already brought in Andre Schurrle and Marco Van Ginkel this summer, and Jose Mourinho is desperate to add an experienced goalkeeper, preferably English, to his lineup to give competition to Petr Cech.

With Thibaut Courtois already loaned back to Atletico Madrid for a third straight season, and Ross Turnbull and Hilario released, youngster Sam Walker is the current back up to Cech.

Norwich had already rejected an opening bid from Chelsea for Ruddy, and now, according to Sky Sports, the Canaries have rebuffed a second offer from the Blues.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton had earlier said he wants to keep Ruddy at the club and it seems like Chelsea will have to go considerably high if they are to tempt Norwich to sell.

Mourinho might also have a big task at hand to convince Ruddy to make a switch to Stamford Bridge this summer as the goalkeeper will be keen to play regularly next season to give himself a chance of making the England squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also failed in their bid to land highly-rated teenager Brown. The 16-year-old became the second youngest player to make a Premier League appearance after being given a chance against Wigan last season and is on the radar of a number of high-profile clubs.

Chelsea have made the first move to land the midfielder, but West Brom do not seem in the mood to let go of their player.

"Albion have rejected an offer from Chelsea for academy product Isaiah Brown," the club said in a statement.

"Under Premier League rules the Baggies are due compensation from the London club for the 16-year-old midfielder, who has been at the Hawthorns for three years and had agreed to sign scholarship forms."

West Brom technical director Richard Garlick called the Chelsea offer disappointing and hopes Brown will prefer to stay at the Hawthorns for the foreseeable future.

"We are disappointed by Chelsea's offer," Garlick said.

"We have invested a lot of time and money in Isaiah's development as a player and -- as one of our most exciting Academy products in recent years -- we had hoped to bring him through into our first team.

"But Chelsea have forced our hands and we are more than prepared for the matter to be decided by a tribunal if needs be.

"More importantly, it makes you question why these young players are joining bigger clubs when they are likely to gain more first-team opportunities in the Barclays Premier League at clubs similar to us."
