The Arsenal-Gonzalo Higuain transfer saga just seems to rumble on with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insisting the club had not received any bids from the English Premier League side.
Reports have been rife over Higuain closing in on a £22 million ($33 million) move to Arsenal, with the Argentine international reportedly already agreeing personal terms.
Arsenal had reportedly increased their bid to around £25 million ($37 million) after Real rejected the opening bid, but according to Perez there was never any bid in the first place, with the president adding he wants Higuain to stay at the Bernabeu next season.
"We don't want Higuain to leave," he told Univision.
"What's more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table."
This could of course just be a strategy to force Arsenal's hand into offering the amount that Real Madrid want for Higuain, because the Spanish club do require funds to bring in new faces with the likes of Asier Illarramendi and Luis Suarez thought to be on their radar.
Arsenal are painfully secretive when it comes to transfers, and do not give an ounce of information away until they make an announcement on their official website after the transfer has been officially ratified.
Higuain is reportedly set on a move to Arsenal and has said so to Real Madrid, according to reports coming out of Spain, with new manager Carlo Ancelotti set to hold talks with the forward to discuss his future with the club.
It will come as a huge blow to Arsenal fans if Arsene Wenger cannot force through a move for Higuain, with the striker looked at as the perfect player to bang in the goals which was so lacking last season.
Wenger of course will have several other striker targets in mind, but with Higuain only 25, and coming with bags of experience, the Argentine will be the perfect addition to the squad ahead of next season.
